Antonio Sarabia: program instructor


Mr. Sarabia has been a member of the Sacramento High School staff since the fall of 2004. In the same year, he received his Designated Services credential in Commercial Art and completed his B.A., graduating Summa Cum Laude with an English degree from CSU Sacramento. He is currently the R.O.P. Visual Communications and Computer Graphics instructor as well as the director for Altern Media at Sac High.
 

While finishing college, Mr. Sarabia worked as a freelance designer, web author, videographer, photographer, musician and sound technician. Although he developed most of his knowledge and skills in the field, his introduction to media and technology began in High School when he was enrolled in an R.O.P. class under the direction of Joseph Symeist in a very similar program to the one he now teaches. Over the years, Mr. Sarabia has developed and extensive knowledge of multiple graphic design and media programs including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, GoLive, InDesign, Flash, Apple Final Cut Pro, Motion, Aperture, After Effects, Soundtrack, and Lightwave 3D. He also has experience with traditional print arts including serigraphy and mural art.

In addition to his work at Sac High, Mr. Sarabia is the Graphic Arts director for the Sacramento Cultural Arts Center and Raices de Mi Tierra Grupo Folklorico. He finished his M.A. in English in May of 2007 completing a thesis in Chicano Literature and Poetry.

Mr. Sarabia was born in Mexico City and migrated to California in 1993.
